What is the American Dream?

The America Dream is trusting and believing that you can achieve what you desire. One’s mind determines the success you make in your life. A positive attitude, a desire to win, believing in yourself, hard work, never giving up, and focusing on your passions are the foundations you need to achieve your American dream.

Imagine being a frontier settler in the 1800’s headed west in search of a new beginning, a new career, a new homestead, land, and freedom. Nothing could stop your desire to conquer your dreams. Not wild horses, not Indians, and not the vast unknown, your anticipation of what was next fueled your eagerness to succeed.

Consider you are a foreigner, unable to speak English yet driven by the desire to come to America where hard work would afford you opportunities to succeed. Leaving behind your family, your friends, your home country, and your learned traditions to step onto land in the United States of America where all things are possible. Simply breathing the air and watching other American citizens, the American hustle and bustle proved all things are possible. You say to yourself, now it is my turn!

As a child watching other classmates as they go on vacations, wear new clothes, have their mother drive new cars, eat out at restaurants, and hang out with the most popular school mates; wondering will I ever have those things. What separates you from others is not money, it is the foundation your family provides. It is your brother and sisters that share the same household and the love, guidance, and values instilled by your parents.

Success, achievement, support, love, and encouragement reinforce the belief that all things are possible. The American dream starts by having very little fortune and turning your wants and desires into having no wants at all, through your dedication, determination, and willpower.

The American Dream is exactly that. Believing in yourself and not accepting failure. It is hard work, trust, and respect for country, family, and our American way of life. Failure should be removed from your vocabulary and replaced with I can do it!

The American Dream is a way of life; it is trusting that all things are possible through the love of God and the belief in yourself. It is accepting that if you want to succeed you must apply yourself, trust your intuitions, honor your parents, respect your elders, and serve others. The American Dream is alive, trust the American Dream!
